Steps To Make A DIY Passport Holder
Step 1: As shown in the image, you need to cut the fabric into a few parts.
Cut the fabric
Step 2: Right sides aligned, pin the zipper to one of the Large Front pieces. Pin it to the fabric’s 5′′ edge.
Pin the zipper
Step 3: Use your sewing machine’s Zipper Foot to stitch as near to the zipper teeth as the foot will allow.
Sew zipper
Step 4: Right sides together, pin the second Large Front piece over the stitching, mirroring the other Large Front piece. Stitch in place with the zipper foot still attached.
Pin the second piece
Step 5: Fold over both sewed edges and press away from zipper teeth with right sides up.
Fold over the edges
Step 6: Carry on with the Small Front parts in the same manner. Pull both sides of the zipper away from you. If you’ve trimmed your zipper, don’t unzip it once it’s been sewed.
Work on small front parts
Step 7: Unzip to the middle of the front slowly. The next step is to secure the edges and snip the zipper. Set your sewing machine to a narrow zigzag stitch of about 2 mm wide and 1 mm long to fasten the zipper.
Secure the edges
Step 8: On both sides of the zipper, stitch as near to the raw edge as possible. Make sure the zipper is unzipped to the center.
Try the zip
Step 9: Clip the excess zipper on both sides once both edges are attached.
Clip the extra part
Step 10: Place the transparent vinyl over the front, matching the bottom edge.
Match the edge
Step 11: Before you start sewing, put a Non-Stick Foot on your machine. If you don’t have a Non-Stick Foot, try covering the vinyl with a sheet of tissue paper or adding machine paper.
Cover the vinyl
Step 12: 1/2′′ from either side, pin the cording to the top edge of the object. To keep it in place, sew and backstitch. Remove any excess.
Step 13: Now, it’s time to move on to the back parts. Place the incorrect sides of the back pieces together. Sew the two pieces together with a 1/4′′ seam and press flat.
Work on back parts
Step 14: Make sure the front zipper is unzipped at least halfway. Right sides together, place the Back to the Front.
Look after zipper
Step 15: Stitch around the passport holder. Turn them inside out and push the corners outward. From the back, press down.
