Introduction
In this tutorial, we will show how to make a drip irrigation system science model at home for your science exhibition.
Drip irrigation is one of the best solutions that have been developed to save water. This is an irrigation system where the water is allowed to drip slowly to the roots of the plants. The main goal of drip irrigation is to provide what is direct to the roots rather than being poured onto the soil where it evaporates up to a certain extent.
Supplies
First, gather all the tools and materials required to build this science project. Here is the list of items required
Tools
- DC water pump
- Scissor
- Hot glue gun
- Battery
- Switch
Material
- Cardboard
- Waste plastic bottle
- Plant
- Three plastic glasses
- Soil
- Straw
- Fevicol
- Paint
- Colour paper
- Plastic container
Steps To Make Drip Irrigation System Model
Step 1: First, take a paper, color it in brick style, and stick it around a plastic container.
Step 2: In the second step take a plastic bottle, cut it in half, color it in red, and stick a straw through the hole in the bottle.
Step 3: Now, cut a few strips and a cardboard circle and stick black paper in them to make a stand.
Step 4: Now connect the DC water pump with the battery and switch.
Step 5: Make colored cardboard for the base and a stand.
Step 6: Now, stick the container and stand in the base. Then attach the DC water pump inside the container.
Step 7: Stick plants in a cup and stand in base cardboard. Similarly, stick a red water tank above the stand.
Step 8: Stick the straw from the water tank towards the plants and add straw through the water pump. But also make holes in straws also.
Step 9: Now add water to the container. Hence, water will flow to the tank through the straw.
Step 10: You’ll observe that water will drop down through holes in straws to the plants.
Finally, the drip irrigation system science model is ready to represent at the exhibition.
Recommendation
The drip irrigation system is the most valuable innovation in agriculture. Hence, the micro-spray is the best replacement for dripping water.
This becomes popular for crop irrigation where water supply is limited. Because a drip irrigation system is considered to be the best solution in case of water scarcity.
This model will help students understand the concept of an irrigation system. Moreover, it can be made with readily available material at home.
Things To Remember
- Firstly be careful using scissors, take the help of an adult if necessary.
- Carefully use a hot glue gun. It may burn your hands.
- During wire connection, be careful.
