If you have all of the essential supplies on hand, making a wooden desk light is a breeze. So, if you want to create your own wooden desk light at home, you’ll need the following materials:
- Hand saw
- Cordless drill
- Forstner bits
- Square ruler
- Wood boards : 3 cm wide, 1 cm wide and (5 x 13) cm
- Brown spray paint
- Wood glue
- White paper
- Linen fabric
- Light bulb socket with cord
- LED light bulb
Steps To Make A Wooden Desk Lamp
Once you have the supplies list, let’s get started on building a wooden desk lamp. Just adhere to the guidelines to the mark, making your wooden desk lamp will be super easy:
Step 1: First, mark all the dimensions required for the base part and cut it out using a handsaw.

Step 2: Straighten the edges using sandpaper and glue the pieces together using wood glue, as shown in the image.

Step 3: After gluing them together, trace the center point of the lampshade and make a hole 4-5 cm deep for the cord using a driller.

Step 4: Next, for the lampshade, cut a cuboid frame of measurement 20 cm × 15 cm. Then, cut 4 pieces 20 cm long and 8 pieces 13 cm long.

Step 5: For the mainframe support piece, take a wooden piece of size 5×13 cm. Drill a hole in it, so it matches the hole drilled in the previous piece.

Step 6: Then, for building up the cuboid frame, glue all the pieces together and use a square ruler along with the clamps to make a perfect right angle. Use sandpaper to straighten the angles.

Step 7: Next, use spray paint to color the pieces.

Step 8: Now, for the lampshade, cut out a paper roll of measurement 62×21 cm. Also, cut the linen fabric of size 63 x 23 cm to glue it easily to the paper and fold the edges to get a nice and smooth look.

Step 9: Glue the lampshade to the frame. Then, put all the pieces together and secure them with glue. Stick the socket on the frame as well.
