Introduction

In this experiment(Which Insulating Sportswear Fabric Will make the Happiest Camper), we will find what kind of fabric is used in making sportswear and camp clothes is the best insulator of cold and keeps us warm makes us feel happy during camp.

The hypothesis of this experiment(Which Insulating Sportswear Fabric Will make the Happiest Camper) is that synthetic fibres are better insulators than natural fibre.

Aim

To determine what kind of material is the best insulator of cold and used in sportswear for protecting the body from extreme cold.

Theory

1. Most of us often go camping with our family members or friends. While camping, you must sometimes be exposed to cold, wet, and windy weather. And at this moment, you must be feeling cold and a little bit cranky.

2. Sportswear made of synthetic fibres are most often used in low-temperature and specifically designed for protecting the body in cold weather.

Requirements

1. Insulating fabrics,

2. Five one-quart glass jars,

3. Wool knit,

4. Cotton fleece,

5. Cotton knit,

6. Polartec200,

7. Thinsulate,

8. Laboratory thermometer,

9. Threaded leads,

10. Metal,

11. Refrigerator.

Procedure

Step 1: Using insulating fabrics, wrap five one-quartz glass jars: wool knit, cotton fleece, Thinsulate, polartec200, and cotton knit.

Step 2: Do not insulate the sixth jar as it will serve as a control.

Step 3: Pour one quart of 120 degrees F into six glass jars.

Step 4: Screw the metal and threaded lids with an inserted laboratory thermometer on jars.

Step 5: Position the thermometer about 2 degrees above the base of the jars.

Step 6: Place the jars on an insulating pad inside the refrigerator.

Step 7: Record the water temperature readings and refrigerator air temperature immediately of each treatment.

Observation

1. From the five materials that are being tested for sportswear, Thinsulate was the best.

2. Natural fabrics such as cotton fleece and wool performed the same but with lower values than Thinsulate.

3. Cotton knit and Polartec formed the same, but with lower values than cotton fleece and wool.

4. Polartec ranked fifth and performed poorly among all fabrics.

Results

1. In extremely cold weather, wear a Thinsulate jacket.

2. In less cold weather, one can put on a wool sweater or sweatshirt.

3. Not every synthetic fibre is created equally.

Precaution

1. Record the temperature immediately.

2. Wear gloves before the experimentation.

Conclusion

In this experiment, we have evaluated five natural and synthetic sportswear fabrics for their insulating capabilities in cold conditions.
